Abstract
W artykule przedstawiono podsumowanie procesów zachodzących w obrębie terenów i budynków poprzemysłowych w Łodzi oraz ocenę ich rezultatów z pozycji ochrony i konserwacji zabytków techniki. Najpierw nakreślono ewolucję stosunku do dziedzictwa przemysłowego, jaka nastąpiła w ciągu minionych 50 lat. Następnie zwrócono uwagę, że wobec nieodwracalnej deindustrializacji kluczową rolę w procesie zachowania dawnych fabryk odgrywa ich adaptacja do nowych funkcji. Podkreślono, że nie jest to w Łodzi zjawisko nowe, gdyż przekształcenia obiektów przemysłowych zachodziły tu od końca XIX wieku. Ich zakres i charakter zmieniały się wraz z sytuacją społeczno-gospodarczą, odzwierciedlając rosnącą świadomość roli postindustrialnego dziedzictwa dla tożsamości miasta. Niestety przewartościowanie objęło budynki, lecz nie ich wyposażenie, które udało się zachować jedynie szczątkowo. Wskazano także na istotną rolę prawidłowej konserwacji ślusarki okiennej oraz lic ceglanych murów, które kształtują nowy wizerunek Łodzi.
This paper presents a review of the processes taking place within post-industrial areas and buildings in Łódź and an assessment of their results from the point of view of the protection and conservation of monuments of technology. First, the evolution of attitudes towards industrial heritage that has occurred over the past fifty years is outlined. Then, it was pointed out that in the face of irreversible deindustrialization, their adaptation to new uses plays a key role in the process of preserving old factories. It was emphasized that this is not a new phenomenon in Łódź, as the transformation of industrial facilities has been taking place here since the end of the nineteenth century. Their scope and nature changed with the socio-economic situation,reflecting the growing awareness of the role of industrial heritage in the city’s identity. Unfortunately,the revaluation concerned the buildings, but not their equipment, which was scarcely preserved. The important role of proper maintenance of window frames and facing brick walls, which shape the new image of Łódź, was also pointed out.
