Abstrakt
Copenhagen, Vienna and Stockholm are examples of metropolises in which spatial de-velopment is planned consistently and in long-term using planning models. Meanwhile, in the paper focuses on the issue of effects of a variable spatial policy upon the example of Cracow. The Author presents results of research into historical general plans of Cra-cow resolved in the post-war period, and subsequently into historical study of spatial development conditions and directions for Cracow. A glimpse on the evolution of the spatial structure of the city in light of provisions of five planning documents over thirty years and in the context of actual transformations allows to draw interesting conclusions.
