This paper presents contemporary ideas of shaping residential buildings in relation to nature, mostly the climate and the sunlight. On the basis of authorial studies, it describes some objects recently realized in Austria. In this country, actions for the sake of sustainable architecture and urbanism are taken in various scales – from the implementation of entire districts and extensive housing estates to small residential complexes and single buildings. They are characterized by the promotion of economical and compact urban structures which combine their inhabitants’ comfort with the comfort of nature.
W artykule przedstawiono współczesne idee kształtowania zabudowy mieszkaniowej w powiązaniu z przyrodą, a przede wszystkim klimatem i słońcem. W oparciu o studia autorskie zaprezentowano najnowsze realizacje austriackie. Działania na rzecz zrównoważonej architektury i urbanistyki podejmowane są w tym kraju w różnej skali, od realizacji całych dzielnic, większych osiedli, po niewielkie zespoły mieszkaniowe i pojedyncze budynki. Charakteryzuje je dążenie do uzyskania struktur urbanistycznych oszczędnych i zwartych łączących komfort mieszkańców z komfortem przyrody.
