Abstrakt
Cultural landscape is the space where culture and architecture merge together to emanate social life, beliefs, functions and its professed values. This is why its borders begin where the natural landscape is shaped and stretch to trifles such as forms of street furniture, architectural details and furnishings. Shifts of life-style are followed by alterations of cultural landscape. The sketchbooks that were created for 50 years by the architect Janusz Bogdanowski are an excellent source of data on these changes. Thanks to detailed descriptions, which are much more than plain inventory, the irreversibly lost heritage of the Polish cultural landscape can be revived and further; the drawings allow the gradual alterations which have occurred to be followed. The outstanding drawing abilities and knowledge of the author, which made it possible to create such an exceptional registry, have made them a valuable cultural item in themselves.
