Celem pracy doktorskiej jest wykazanie znaczenia stadionów w przestrzeni miejskiej oraz ich wpływu na rozwój największych aglomeracji Europy Środkowej. Autor analizuje w niej infrastrukturę stadionową pod kątem estetyki, funkcjonalności i ekonomii, badając, jak otaczające stadiony przestrzenie wpływają na bezpieczeństwo i atrakcyjność okolicy. Badania obejmują analizę literaturę, mapowanie, obserwacje i wywiady, a terytorialnie dotyczą dwunastu stadionów w stolicach i największych aglomeracjach Europy Środkowej, takich jak Wiedeń, Praga, Berlin, Warszawa czy Budapeszt. Studia przypadków dostarczają wytycznych do modernizacji stadionów i kształtowania przestrzeni okołostadionowych, wspierając architektów i inwestorów w procesie projektowym. Interdyscyplinarne badania łączą wiedzę z architektury, urbanistyki, socjologii, bezpieczeństwa oraz ekonomii, oferując praktyczne wskazówki dla przyszłych projektantów obiektów sportowych.
The objective of this doctoral dissertation is to demonstrate the significance of stadiums in urban spaces and their impact on the development of the Central European largest agglomerations. The author analyses stadiums infrastructure in terms of aesthetics, functionality, and economy, examining how the spaces surrounding stadiums affect the safety and attractiveness of the area. The research includes a review of literature, mapping, observations, and interviews, and geographically focuses on twelve stadiums in the capitals and largest agglomerations of Central Europe, such as Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Warsaw, and Budapest. Case studies provide guidelines for modernising stadiums and shaping the surrounding spaces, supporting architects and investors in the design process. The interdisciplinary research combines knowledge from architecture, urban planning, sociology, safety, and economics, offering practical insights for future sports facility designers.
