Abstract
Poster ma na celu pokazanie problemów związanych z tworzeniem kolekcji prac doktorskich w Bibliotece Cyfrowej Politechniki Warszawskiej jako doświadczenia prowadzącego do powstania projektu repozytorium instytucjonalnego PW. Przedstawiamy sposoby informowania o kolekcji prac doktorskich i zachęcania do umieszczania ich w Bibliotece Cyfrowej PW, m.in. poprzez wskazanie korzyści odnoszonych przez publikującego i uczelnię. Statystyki udostępniania doktoratów w otwartej bibliotece cyfrowej wyraźnie wskazują na spektakularny wzrost ich oglądalności w porównaniu z brakiem zainteresowania egzemplarzami papierowymi w bibliotece tradycyjnej. Ponadto pokazujemy działania biblioteki promujące otwarte zasoby wiedzy. Jednym z działań zmierzającym do w tworzenia repozytorium uczelni jest przeprowadzenie ankiety, która ma na celu poznanie opinii środowiska naukowego oraz studentów na temat zamieszczania publikacji naukowych i edukacyjnych w otwartym repozytorium. Rezultaty ankiety mają pokazać nastawienie środowiska naukowego do udostępniania publikacji w otwartym dostępie, uwidocznić, do jakiego stopnia obawy naukowców przed udostępnianiem w otwartym Internecie są barierą utrudniającą powstawanie repozytorium. Wyniki badania ankietowego oraz doświadczenia z pozostałych działań będą stanowić dla Biblioteki PW materiał pomocniczy do opracowania strategii tworzenia repozytorium uczelnianego Politechniki Warszawskiej.
The poster presents problems connected with collecting doctoral dissertations in the Warsaw University of Technology Digital Library as an experience leading to establishing an institutional repository. We wish to show how to inform about the PhD theses collection and how to encourage people to place their dissertations in the University Digital Library by showing, among others, the benefits for both the authors and for the university. The statistics concerning doctoral dissertations accessed in the open digital library clearly point to a spectacular increase in their viewing in comparison with the lack of interest in paper copies of the traditional library. The poster also presents various methods for promoting open resources. The activities leading to the creation of the university repository include a survey conducted among the academic staff and students to gather their opinions on placing academic and educational publications in an open repository. The aim of the survey is to identify the attitudes of academia to open access to such publications and to show to what extent the scholars‘ fears of making their publications accessible on the Internet is an obstacle to creating such repository. The results of the survey as well as the experiences gained from other activities will help the University Library develop appropriate strategies for creating a repository at the Warsaw University of Technology.
