Abstract: W artykule przedstawiono współczesne realizacje architektoniczno-urbanistyczne z przestrzenią publiczną zaprojektowaną na dachach budynków. Udostępnienie dachów takich reprezentacyjnych obiektów użyteczności publicznej, jak biblioteki, filharmonie, opery czy muzea dla użytkowników może zwiększyć atrakcyjność tych instytucji w przestrzeni miasta. Przegląd różnorodnych rozwiązań pokazuje, że przestrzenie dla pieszych na budynkach mogą być interesującą alternatywą dla braku podobnych przestrzeni publicznych w silnie zurbanizowanych centrach miast. Różnorodne walory, takie jak np. atrakcyjność wizualna, elastyczność w wykorzystaniu przestrzeni, wprowadzanie terenów zielonych sprawia, że dachy obiektów użyteczności publicznych stają się jednymi z chętniej odwiedzanych miejsc przez mieszkańców miast.

The article presents contemporary architectural and urban realisations with public spaces designed on the roofs of buildings. Rendering the roofs of such representative public utility buildings as libraries, philharmonics, opera theatres or museums accessible to users may increase the attractiveness of such institutions in the space of the city. A review of diversified solutions shows that spaces for pedestrians on buildings may constitute an interesting alternative for the lack of similar public spaces in strongly urbanised city centres. Various advantages, such as visual attractiveness, flexibility in the utilisation of the space, introduction of green areas, make roofs of public utility buildings become one of the most willingly visited places by city residents.
