Abstract: Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu określenie złożoności pojęcia „ogród użytkowy” w odniesieniu do form jego użytkowania oraz jego charakterystyki w szkicowym przeglądzie historycznym. Użytkowanie ogrodu stanowi nieodłączny składnik decydujący często o przyjmowanych rozwiązaniach formalnych ogrodu. Walory kompozycyjne poszczególnych dzieł ogrodowych należy zatem badać nie tylko w kontekście zjawisk artystycznych i tendencji stylowych epoki i regionu, ale zawsze również przez pryzmat nadanych im specyficznych funkcji i sposobów użytkowania.

Present article has on aim the qualification of complexity of notion “usable garden” in reference of forms his use as well as his profile in sketchy historical review. The use the garden the is the inseparable decisive component often about accepted formal solutions of garden. The compositional values the of individual garden works, it should study not only in context of artistic phenomena and the in the style tendencies of epoch and region, but across prism giving them always also specific functions and the ways of use.
