Abstract
Przestrzeń miejska jest organizmem żywym i ulega rozmaitym przekształceniom wywoływanym przez zmiany funkcji, jakie powstają w związku z rozwojem miasta. Nawet miasta i dzielnice, powstające na deskach urbanistów według szczegółowych projektów urbanistycznych, posiadają fragmenty nieciekawe, niedopracowane lub zdewastowane w wyniku późniejszych przekształceń. Nową funkcją, która pojawiła się ostatnio w miejskich metropoliach, są wybiegi dla psów. Ogrodzone i zagospodarowane zapewniają czworonożnym mieszkańcom miasta teren przeznaczony wyłącznie dla nich. W Niemczech miejsca te noszą nazwę Hunderzone, w Ameryce Dog Ran, a pojawiają się na obszarach nieatrakcyjnych lokalizacyjnie, w zacienionych obrzeżach parków lub właśnie w przestrzeni znajdującej się pod estakadą lub pod mostem. Stanowią one prawdziwe wyzwanie dla architektów krajobrazu, starających się nadać tym niezbyt skomplikowanym funkcjonalnie obiektom ciekawy wyraz artystyczny.
Urban space is like living organ, it breathes life and individual functions into the very fabric of the city as it develops. It is common, that even the cities and boroughs organized and designed by architects and urban planners have some areas that are undeveloped, unclear, unsightly and full of unusable space. Some of these arise by difficult situations such as in the natural development and expansion of urban space. Like area(s) under highways: they are always wasteful, unfinished, derelict, without direct sunlight and unsafe. A proposed new and clever function would be the conversion of useless urban space to a dog run areas. These areas would become fenced and well maintained, publicly accessible and used urban areas. In Germany these areas are known as: Hunderzone. In America (USA) they are known as Dog Runs.
