Abstract: Artykuł poświęcony jest problemowi blokowisk, palącemu zwłaszcza w krajach Europy Środkowej i Wschodniej, gdzie obszary takie stanowią od 45%–70% miejskich zasobów mieszkaniowych. Zarówno technologicznie, jak i pod względem standardów życia, a także bardzo często estetyki i wyrazu architektonicznego, prefabrykowane bloki mieszkalne należą już do przeszłości. Także w krajach Zachodu problem ten, choć na mniejszą skalę, jest ciągle aktualny.

The paper is devoted to the issue of the mass housing estates, which is especially emergent in the Middle and Eastern Europe, where between 40 and 70 per cent of town’s households are placed in such structures. In terms of living standards, technology and architectural appearance they are already belong to the past. The problem seems to be still actual also in Western countries.
