Abstract
Małe i średnie miasta górskie i podgórskie tworzą charakterystyczne dziedzictwo kultury materialnej regionu Polski Południowej. Artykuł podejmuje temat przemian funkcjonalnych i przestrzennych, które znajdują odzwierciedlenie we współczesnym obrazie tych ośrodków. Zwrócono uwagę na konflikty, deformacje i zagrożenia wynikające ze zmian sposobu użytkowania i zagospodarowania terenów wybranych miast karpackich w nowej i najnowszej historii ich rozwoju.
Small and medium towns create the characteristic heritage of material culture of the Polish Karpaty area. The article deals with the theme of functional and spatial transformations which can be observed within their contemporary development. The alternations in the way of exploiting and shaping the above mantioned towns during the last decades are followed by numerous conflicts, deformations and threats.
