Abstract: Artykuł ma formę rozważań na temat architektury – jej siły i słabości, problemów edukacji architektonicznej, znaczenia architektury w rozwoju nauki i kultury. Jest refleksją na temat tego, jak współczesne pojmowanie architektury oddaliło się od dawnej definicji Witruwiusza. Artykuł jest podzielony na trzy części, obejmujące zagadnienia definicji, nauczania i badań naukowych w architekturze.

The paper contains reflections on architecture – its’ strengths and weaknesses, problems of architectural education, meaning of architecture for culture and science. It is a shows how modern understanding of architecture has moved away from ancient definitions present in the Vitruvius’s Tractate. The theme has been dived into three paragraphs, covering issues of definition, teaching and scientific research in architecture.
