Witruwiusz działał w skali nieporównywalnie mniejszej niż współcześni architekci, a jednak stwierdzenia zawarte w dziele O architekturze ksiąg dziesięć wydają się mieć charakter ponadczasowy. Analizując zasady projektowania zrównoważonego możemy dostrzec ciekawe zbieżności pomiędzy poglądami Witruwiusza i współczesnych nam architektów, z uwzględnieniem oczywiście wszystkich różnic i uwarunkowań cywilizacyjnych, w tym przede wszystkim możliwości technologicznych.
Even though the scale of Vitruvius’ activities was incomparably smaller than that of contemporary architects, comments included in the work Ten Books on Architecture seem timeless. Analyzing the principles of sustainable design, we may notice some interesting concurrences between the opinions of Vitruvius and contemporary architects, allowing for all the differences and circumstances of civilization, mostly technological potential.
