Abstract
Odniesienie się do problemów konsumpcji energii stanowi istotne wyzwanie dla współczesnej architektury i urbanistyki. Wymogi ekonomii, oczekiwania społeczne w zakresie jakości środowiska zbudowanego oraz środowiska przyrody, a także rozwój technologii pozyskiwania energii słonecznej w ostatnim dziesięcioleciu wywierają wpływ na koncepcję architektoniczną oraz zasady kształtowania zespołów urbanistycznych. Architektura słoneczna wpisuje się w działania na rzecz realizacji idei zrównoważonego rozwoju, wprowadzając rozwiązania uwzględniające zarówno komfort przyrody, jak i komfort mieszkańców. Sprzyjają temu nowe możliwości technologiczne w dziedzinie materiałów budowlanych oraz rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych.
The use of solar energy in contemporary architecture and urban design serves to create environment- and man-friendly, healthy home and urban space. Using renewable sources of energy, including solar energy, is related to the necessity of protecting the atmosphere and limiting energy consumption in building man's activity. The promotion of the idea of sustainable development, together with energy-saving architecture, gives a chance of adapting the Earth to the rate of the development of the contemporary civilisation. Tech-nological possibilities in combination with diverse aesthetic solutions and the tradition of a place determine the shape of a solar architecture and residential urban environment. Serving man's closer contact with nature they unite it with his living place and enrich architecture with some new humanistic values.
