Abstract: Malarstwo niderlandzkie XV w. jest wyjątkowym źródłem wiedzy o średniowiecznych realiach. Obrazy te dostarczają wielu cennych informacji zarówno historykom sztuki, jak i przyrodnikom. Pozwalają zapoznać się z ówczesnym środowiskiem przyrodniczym odwzorowanym na obrazach. Niniejszy artykuł obejmuje badania nad fauną w średniowiecznym krajobrazie miejskim, podmiejskim, a także w terenach zieleni komponowanej, odzwierciedlonej na wybranych przykładach malarstwa niderlandzkiego XV w. Jest próbą zidentyfikowania konkretnych gatunków zwierząt i ukazania realności ich odwzorowania wraz z odniesieniem do namalowanego środowiska.

The fifteenth century Netherlandish painting is an exceptional source of knowledge about medieval realities. These paintings provide valuable information for both art historians and naturalists. They allow see the natural environment of that time presented in the paintings. This article presents research on the fauna in medieval urban and suburban landscape and also in composed green areas reflected on selected examples of the 15th-century Netherlandish paintings. It is attempt to recognize specific species of animals and revealing the reality of their presentation with a reference to the painted environment.
