Abstract: Strukturalizm zatarł granice pomiędzy urbanistyką, a architekturą, konstrukcją, a detalem. W obiekcie architektonicznym, niczym w maszynie, każdy pojedynczy detal miał swą określoną funkcję i jasno sprecyzowaną wymowę w kontekście całości. Przykładem realizacji tych zasad jest Instytut Fizyki w Łodzi, którego forma stanowi obraz kształtowania się późno modernistycznych idei, ich degradacji i współczesnego niezrozumienia.

Structuralism has blurred distinctions between urbanism and architecture, construction and detail. In the architectural object, as in the machine, any particular detail had its function and precised meaning within the wholeness. The Physics Institute in Łodź appears to be an example of realization of these principles. Its structure is an image of late modernistic ideas, their decay and contemporary incomprehension.
