Abstract: Od początku świadomego budowania każdemu obiektowi towarzyszy szczegół architektoniczny. Na przestrzeni wieków różnie był kształtowany i postrzegany. Każda z minionych epok wyróżniała się odrębnym stylem, na który bezpośredni wpływ miał właśnie detal architektoniczny. To on wyrażał funkcję, świadczył o randze danej budowli oraz bogactwie jej fundatora. Detal architektoniczny - niby tylko dodatek, uzupełnienie bryły, ale bez tego dopełnienia każdy obiekt niezależnie od przeznaczenia, byłby pozbawiony swojej indywidualności. Jest to wyraźnie widoczne współcześnie, kiedy to wiele budynków zostało częściowo lub całkowicie pozbawionych szczegółu architektonicznego.

Since the beginning of conscious building each object has been accompanied by an architectural detail which was shaped and perceived differently over the centuries. Each of the past epochs was characterized by the individual style influenced directly by the architectural detail. It demonstrated the function of a building, determined its importance and wealth of its founder. Architectural detail seems just like an addition, building's supplement, but in fact without it every object regardless of its function would lack its uniqueness. Instances of that can be clearly seen in many buildings nowadays - which partly or completely lack the architectural detail.
