Abstract: Frank Gehry, Christian de Portzamparc, Behnisch & Partner – to zaledwie kilku światowej sławy twórców, którzy mieli okazję zmierzyć się z wyzwaniem, jakim było projektowanie reprezentacyjnych budowli w miejscu tak prestiżowym, jakim jest dla niemieckiej stolicy leżący po wschodniej stronie Bramy Brandenburskiej – plac Paryski. Zabudowa tego kluczowego układu urbanistycznego, leżącego w centrum na nowo zjednoczonego miasta podporządkowana została jasnym, aczkolwiek surowym regułom ustanowionym przez władze lokalne: Berliński Senat do Spraw Rozwoju Miasta. Nałożone z urzędu ograniczenia formalne przyczyniły się nie tyle do uniformizacji architektury, ile opisały porządek przestrzenny, w ramach którego mogła poruszać się kreatywność twórców.

Frank Gehry, Christian de Portzamparc, Behnisch & Partner are just some of the world famous architects, who had a possibility to design representative buildings in the presigious Pariser Platz, lying on the east side of the Brandenburger Tor. In the center of the united city, Pariser Platz plays a key role in the urbanistic structure of Berlin. The rebuilding of the square had to be a matter of some clear, but nevertheless strict regulations provided by the Senat of Berlin for the Urban Development. The regulations had not lead to the uniformity of the architecture, but gave the spacious frame to be filled by the creativity of the builders.
