Abstract: Dawna Huta im. Tadeusza Sendzimira zajmuje obecnie znaczny obszar Krakowa, który z racji ciągłej działalności produkcyjnej jest niedostępny dla mieszkańców miasta. Zdegradowany przez przemysł teren zasiedlony jest przez wiele gatunków roślin, pionierskich lub bardziej ozdobnych, które zostały tam celowo wprowadzone lub zasiały się same. Dzięki zmniejszeniu zanieczyszczenia środowiska rośliny te uzyskały lepsze warunki do rozwoju, przez co stopniowo rekultywują zniszczony teren. Spojrzenie na obszar Huty jak na ogród pozwala docenić jego walory estetyczne i rozważyć wykorzystanie jego zielonego potencjału przy planowaniu przyszłości tego terenu. Porównanie z inwestycjami na terenach kopalni Zollverein w Zagłębiu Ruhry oraz huty w Colombelles koło Caen unaocznia możliwości, jakie stoją przed krakowską Hutą.

The former Tadeusz Sendzimir steelworks is a significantly large area of Cracow. However, as it is still producing goods, it is not accessible for the inhabitants of the city. The area that has been degraded by industrial activity still boasts many species of plants, either pioneering or decorative, that have either grown there themselves or were introduced by humans. Thanks to the decrease of pollution, these plants have better conditions to grow, which contributes to the gradual reclamation of the damaged area. Perceiving the area of the steelworks as a kind of a garden makes one see its aesthetic values and consider taking advantage of its green potential when drafting the future of the area. Comparison to the investments carried out in the Zollverein mine in the Ruhr Area and Colombelles steelworks near Caen presents the possibilities that the Cracow plant may have in the future.
